Notater
Richard Wise was a convict. He was tried at Maidstone, Kent on 5 Apr 1812 charged with the theft of 30 gallons of rum from a hoy (small barge or river sloop) on the Thames , a navigable river. Richard is listed as aged 36 years, waterman, 5ft 91/2 ins, dark, ruddy complexion. He was sentenced to be hung but this was later to be commuted to transportation for life.
